Flannery O’Connor

Flannery O’Connor room, named after one of America’s greatest fiction writers and Savannah native, is a lofty corner room with lots of natural light, evoking the beach-y coziness of the low-country islands. Your private entrance off the second floor balcony has a small sitting area outside. Inside, your Queen bed and decorative fireplace set the mood for tropical romance. The sunny bathroom features a claw foot cast iron soaking tub and handheld shower. Your bath experience is even more delightful with our custom-blended soap and Lavender-Chamomile Body Scrub.

Flannery O’Connor was born in Savannah in 1925 and is considered one of America’s greatest fiction writers. At the age of 20, she received a scholarship in journalism from the State University of Iowa. But after her first term, she decided this was not what she envisioned for her life. She asked Paul Engle, founder of the now world-famous Writer’s Workshop, if he would allow her to join the Masters program in Creative Writing. The rest, as they say, is history. Be sure to visit her childhood home while here in Savannah for a deeper glimpse into the life and story that is Flannery O’Connor.
